Staff responsible for supporting attendance
Attendance Lead: Mrs K. O'Grady, Headteacher
Inclusion Co-ordinator and family support: Mrs A. Greenway
Office Manager: Mrs S. Hancock
At All Saints, we believe in “learning and growing together to be the best that we can be.” Children need the right conditions to flourish—and one of the most important is being in school every day. Good attendance ensures that every child can take part in the full richness of school life, build strong relationships, and develop the knowledge and confidence they need to thrive. When pupils attend regularly, they are better able to grow academically, socially and spiritually, helping them to reach their full potential and raise their aspirations for the future.
We are unapologetic about our high expectations for attendance because we know how vital it is for every child’s success. Our procedures for monitoring attendance are thorough and applied consistently, and we will challenge and hold parents to account where attendance falls below expectations. This is part of our commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn and grow in the best possible conditions. At the same time, we recognise that families can face real challenges, and we are equally committed to working alongside parents with care and understanding to identify and remove barriers to attendance. By combining clear expectations with strong support, we aim to create the fertile soil every child needs to thrive.
Leave of absence during term time will only be authorised in truly exceptional circumstances. Family holidays and similar requests are, in most cases, not considered exceptional and are unlikely to be approved. Where unauthorised absence occurs, we will consistently follow the referral process to Warwickshire Local Authority, in line with statutory guidance, to ensure a fair and consistent approach for all families.
We want your support to continue to improve attendance and most importantly to ensure that all children have the best possible opportunities to be the best they can be – every day a child misses from school results in lost learning and lost opportunities.
What you can do:
Avoid taking holidays during term time – even short breaks can have a big impact.
Plan long distance family visits outside of school hours
Send your child to school with minor symptoms of illness – such as a slight cold or tiredness. We allow parents to come into school to give Calpol / Nurofen during the day, if this helps your child to manage their symptoms in school
Ensure your child attends even if siblings or other family members are unwell – unless your child is directly affected.
Book medical / dental appointments outside of school hours where possible– or arrange for your child to attend school before or after the appointment.
Encourage part-day attendance – if your child is feeling better later in the day or has a morning appointment, they can still attend for part of the day.

Punctuality
Being on time is important to your child's education. If a child is persistently late, they miss the start of lessons which may have a negative impact on their learning, confidence and self-esteem. Lateness disrupts your child, their class and the staff working with them. School begins at 8.40 on the Junior site, and 8.50am on the Infant site (Nursery start at 9.00am). Classroom doors close at 8.50 on the Junior site, and 9.00am on the Infant site, after which time children should enter through the main office.
Being 5 minutes late every day will result in your child losing around three learning days a year.
Being 15 minutes late every day equates to having two complete weeks off a year.
Being 30 minutes late daily equates to losing nineteen learning days a year.
Sickness
If your child is absent through sickness or any unavoidable cause, please contact the school by telephone or Class Dojo by 9.00am on the first day of absence.
Appointments of any kind, such as a doctor’s or dentist appointment, should be arranged outside of academy hours where possible. If this is unavoidable, please let the academy office know and this will be authorised upon proof of appointment being given.
Children returning after illness should clearly be fit to do so and free from any infection.
Term Time Holidays
Government guidance does not permit parents to take children on holidays during term time except under the most exceptional circumstances.
If you do decide to take your child on a family holiday that has not been authorised, their absence will be recorded as 'unauthorised' and could result in a prosecution and a fine.
Academy Closure
Academy closures will be announced as soon as the information has been verified and become available via the following methods:
